Farmhouse Dining Table

This item is made to order and ships in 8-10 weeks.

All James & James items are made to order, customized to the specifications you select. Crafted from solid hardwood, our furniture is built for everyday use and ready to become your next heirloom.  Every piece is hand-finished in the color of your choosing, then sealed with a polyurethane finish to further protect the surface.

The length, width, and height of your table are custom to the dimensions you choose above. That’s the beauty of James & James!

Notes:

Crafted from Knotty Alder Hardwood, this dining table boasts natural grains and filled knots to create a smooth surface.

This tabletop is 1.75” thick with a 3.5” apron (frame of the table). To arrive at the clearance underneath the apron, subtract approx. 5.25” from the table height you select.

To arrive at the distance between legs (sides), subtract 14” from the total length selected.

To arrive at the distance between legs (ends), subtract 12” from the total width selected.

Disclaimer:

Please note that each measurement is an approximation, as these pieces are hand-built. We allow for up to 1" in variation to accommodate the unique nature of handcrafted furniture.

Knots on surface areas are filled by our carpenters, ensuring a smooth surface that's easy to clean, while all other knots are left open and natural. For daily care, we recommend using water and any cleaning product safe for wood surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals as it will deteriorate the finish and could cause damage. Remember to use a trivet or coaster for items too hot to touch.

What defines a farmhouse table?

  • Aesthetically, farmhouse tables typically feature a rustic, solid-wood top. They’re large, durable, and usually used as a central feature in a dining room or kitchen.
  • To us, a rustic farmhouse table is meant to be a gathering place. In the old days, farm workers would all convene around the table in the farmhouse to share meals during long days of work.

Are farmhouse tables still popular?

  • Farmhouse dining room tables are perennially popular. They have a timeless look and are frequently kept in families for generations, passed on as an heirloom over and over again.
  • When you build a custom farmhouse table with James+James, you don’t have to sacrifice quality to achieve the latest style. Farmhouse tables may be currently on-trend, but we’re still making them the old-fashioned way—with our hands, using solid wood and quality materials.

What do you put in the center of a farmhouse table?

  • You can decorate your custom James+James farmhouse table with whatever best suits your style. Some of our favorite options include fresh flowers, decorative trivets, and bowls of fresh produce, but the choice is entirely yours.

What chairs go best with a farmhouse table?

  • You can pair pretty much any type of seating with your farmhouse table—you just have to make sure that the measurements work together. Luckily, if you order your dining set through James+James, we’ll guarantee that everything fits perfectly (we’re making it all by hand, after all).

Can you mix farmhouse and modern furniture?

  • You certainly can. In fact, some of our farmhouse table designs here at James+James do just that. Take our Arkwright table, for instance. It features a solid wood farmhouse-style tabletop and a contemporary, industrial steel base—the perfect blend of tradition and modernity!
