Chair Spacing at Pedestal or Trestle Dining Tables

/

So, you've decided on a pedestal or trestle style dining table - perfect! You've just made one of the first customization decisions for your new table.

Now it's time to determine how many chairs you'll be able to comfortably seat around your table. Hopefully this quick guide will help. If not, please reach out to our team via phone (479-633-7557), text, email or comment below and we'd be happy to help.

As a general rule, a 6ft table seats 6, an 8ft table seats 8, a 10ft table seats 10 etc. but that does depend on your chair widths and other considerations. This blog post may help you with general table sizing.

Here's a little hard math. Generally speaking, for tables that are 6'L to 9'L our team places the pedestals inset approx. 13" from either end of the table, and longer tables typically have a more custom inset ranging from 22" - 24".

Pedestal tables offer excellent seating capacity because no one is stuck between corner legs, and the full length of the table can be utilized!

This means most people will space out their chairs with at least two chairs overlapping a table pedestal like in the photos below:
