Top Style Options Explained
If you're shopping one of our traditional pine tables, you'll see 3 options for "Top Style." Here's a quick run down to help explain the options:
Boarded
Boarded tops are composed of individual boards. This is traditionally how farm style tables are built. The boards are not glued together and should be expected to expand and contract with changes in humdity. Boarded tops are great for someone that wants a traditional look.
Boarded with End Caps
Boarded with end caps (also often called bread boards) is a great way to dress up the top. The boards are not glued together and should be expected to expand and contract with changes in humdity. The end caps are not removable and are included in the table's length. This option adds the perpendicular boards to either end of the table.
Jointed
Jointed tops are made with individual boards that are glue and biscuit jointed together. Jointed tops are a great option for individuals who want a top that's quick and easy to clean and a top that expands and contracts as a whole, instead of as individual boards.
Since hardwood comes in random widths, all hardwood table are built with a jointed top and we do not offer a boarded ot boarded with end caps top option on our hardwood table pages or on tables upgraded from traditional pine to hardwood.
