While our beds, dressers, and nightstands are all crafted from solid maple, they are built by different partner vendors. Due to natural variations in wood, finishes may not be an exact match, but are designed to complement one another for a cohesive look.

All James & James beds are designed to fit standard mattress sizes. This bed is not designed to accommodate an adjustable frame.

Please note that each measurement is an approximation, as our pieces are hand-built. We allow for up to 1" in variation to accommodate the unique nature of handcrafted furniture.

To keep your James & James upholstered bed looking beautiful for years to come, follow these simple care instructions. The solid maple hardwood frame should be dusted regularly with a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp microfiber cloth to prevent buildup. Avoid harsh cleaners or abrasive materials that could damage the wood finish, and for deeper cleaning, use a mild soap and water solution, making sure to wipe dry immediately. To protect the wood, keep the bed away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, or humidity fluctuations that could cause movement or warping.

The velvet fabric upholstery requires gentle care to maintain its luxurious texture and sheen. Dust and pet hair can be removed by lightly vacuuming the fabric with a soft brush attachment. To restore the velvet’s natural nap, use a velvet brush or a clean, dry cloth to gently brush in the direction of the fibers. For spills, blot immediately with a dry, absorbent cloth—do not rub—to prevent moisture from setting into the fabric. If deeper cleaning is needed, spot clean with a small amount of mild, water-based detergent, using a damp cloth in a light dabbing motion, and let the fabric air dry completely. Avoid excessive moisture, as it can cause the fibers to become crushed or matted. To help maintain the fabric’s smooth appearance, occasionally steam the surface at a safe distance, then gently brush to restore its softness. Keep the upholstery away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent fading, and never use harsh chemicals, bleach, or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the fibers.

For general upkeep, always lift the bed rather than dragging it when moving to prevent stress on joints. Keep pets' nails trimmed to avoid snags in the fabric and scratches on the wood. Using a mattress protector can help prevent stains and maintain the bed’s pristine condition. With proper care, your James & James upholstered bed will remain a timeless and durable piece in your home for years to come.

We believe craftsmen should stand behind their products. That’s why we promise: 

1. If your item(s) isn’t delivered in the correct color, size (after allowing for our 1” variance), or style that you ordered, we will replace it.  
2. If your item(s) arrives damaged and the damage is noted upon the delivery paperwork, we will evaluate the damage and at our discretion either repair or replace some or all of the product that is damaged.  
3. If your item(s) ever unnaturally cracks or splits, we’ll fix or replace it as indicated in our warranty.
