An area rug can be the perfect finishing touch for your dining space!
If you plan on placing a rug right under your dining table, make sure that it extends at least 24” to 30” inches beyond the edge of the table. This helps make sure that the rug is able to efficiently accommodate for the dining chairs as well.
Measure the width and length of the table and then add 24” to 30” to each of the four sides to facilitate additional room for chairs. Make sure that your table leaf is included in this calculation.
For example, a 72” L x 37” W table should be paired with a rug that is approx. 96” L x 60” W (8’ L x 5’ W).
If your dining space also includes other pieces of furniture like a buffet, hutch, or serving station, make sure that the rug will fit into the configuration of all the furniture as well as the room as a whole.
Use painter’s tape to represent the size of the rug you think will be best for...
